"The Lord is my Rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies." Psalm 18:2-3
Today I saw a glimpse of how big my God is.
Today I saw His hand
Today I saw a lot of little things come together in a big way.
I started my time here in Honduras doing ministry with my team in Los Pinos. We climbed the mountain to homes of people we would get to know, pray for and grow to love. One of the people who quickly found a special place in my heart was a sweet woman of God named Mabel.
(Los Pinos)
Mabel is a single mother of two young boys. She has faced struggles all through her life. She has battled cancer, and has been miraculously healed. Everyday she has had to trust God to provide everything from food for her children to uniforms for their school.
For two weeks we visited Mabel. When we met her she was bed-ridden with sickness. New tumors had developed in her jaw, she was having stomach and liver issues, and her body was reacting adversely to any medications she would take, she was malnourished and underweight.
We fought spiritual battles over her children, her home, and for Mabel herself.
We learned hard lessons about God's timing, and that not all burdens are ours to carry.
As we moved onto our next ministries we never stopped praying for this family.
As I approached her home I was taken aback at the sight I was seeing.
No longer was Mabel crippled in pain, or weak and bed-ridden. But...
...as she welcomed us into her home.
She pulled chairs out for us on her new, concrete floor the government had provided for her.
She sat tall in a chair where we used to find her laying in her bed.
She talked for an hour and a half about all the things God had done for her these past two months.
and the medicines she needs.
Mabel and her family still have so many needs. They need money for more medications, they need electricity and running water. They need wood and nails to repair their home. Her oldest son needs shoes because his only pair was stolen. They need rain, because a barrel of their water has also has been stolen. They need food to eat and a bed that isn't full of bed bugs and mold. They need so many things that I don't think twice about having.
But these needs are not what Mabel prayed for...
I listened to her cry out to God in praise. She praised Him for protecting her family and once again healing and bringing restoration to her body.
